The gloomy, greyish atmosphere of a dying world is the thing that hits my eyes immediately upon starting Conquest Tactics: Realm of Sin. This is not the “riding a horse to look at flowers” type of strategy game that you can win by randomly pressing skill buttons. This game throws players into the role of a Commander amidst the chaos of sin and the collapse of an ancient kingdom. I feel clearly the pressure in every decision, because here, a small mistake in arranging the formation is also enough to send your whole army on the way. Truly harsh.
MASTERING THE COMMANDER STRATEGY
The turn-based gameplay of this game truly causes addiction thanks to the Command State mechanism full of depth. Instead of just simply standing still in one place and releasing moves, I must calculate meticulously every movement tile, even the rotation direction of the unit to optimize defense capability and damage. Rotating troops in the right direction sometimes is even more important than the fact whether you possess strong equipment or not. One wrong move? Pay the price immediately.
- Command state mastery: This mode allows you to intervene deeply into the coordination of the formation on the battlefield.
- Precision unit positioning: Placing soldiers in the right strategic position will help you flip the board situation spectacularly.
- Bold risk taking: The game always puts you in the situation of having to choose between safety or risk to win.
DARK WORLD AND SIN SYSTEM
The world in the game never stands still for you to slowly enjoy. I realize that time is exactly the greatest enemy—the longer one stays, the Threat Level increasingly rises high, turning monsters that were already annoying into many times more aggressive. The Sin system is exactly the “soul” creating the difference, making every choice of yours leave irreversible consequences on the world map. Decision belongs to you.
- Escalating threat levels: The difficulty will escalate according to real time, forcing players to continuously adapt quickly.
- Impactful sin mechanics: Strategic decisions will impact directly on the stats and destiny of the entire kingdom.
- Diverse dangerous locations: From ancient Temples to the Sun Cathedral, every land area contains creepy secrets.
